Amit (Macao)

Amit is a highly motivated English teacher and lifelong learner with a keen interest in languages, ICT and Special Education. He is a versatile and creative practitioner with excellent interpersonal, time management, critical thinking and problem solving skills and models this to his students in his teaching. He prides himself in preparing engaging and interactive lessons that motivates students. His expertise lies in teaching upper Primary and Secondary and Adults.

Prior to teaching, Amit has worked extensively in various departments in the hospitality industry. He has often been commended for his commitment to his colleagues and outstanding customer services and has brought this with him into the classroom. He addresses students’ individual needs to build their confidence in communicating in English. Amit holds a Master’s Degree in Education, a TESOL certificate and a TEYL qualification specialising in teaching English to young learners.

Ana (South Africa, Portugal)

Ana’s expertise is in teaching Young Learners from Kindergarten to Lower-Primary. She is passionate about pronunciation skills and helping students to develop clear and comprehensible English.

At EfA, Ana teaches conversational English to a range of age groups and proficiency levels, and her experience includes teaching business English and English online. Prior to joining us in 2017, Ana taught English in mainland China and worked as a Portuguese-English translator and proofreader.

Ana holds a Bachelor of Education and is TESOL qualified. She speaks English, Portuguese, Mandarin and Afrikaans and dedicates some of her free-time to community work.

Cristina (Macao)

Cristina joined EfA in the Summer of 2022 and is an outgoing and energetic individual with a love for teaching young learners. In her past role as a community teacher, she taught a range of workshops to instil ethical and moral values in her students. Cristina’s lesson planning focuses on allowing her students the opportunity to speak and to build their interpersonal skills for effective and confident communication. To further advance her skills and knowledge as a teacher, Cristina recently undertook a TESOL certificate and is studying a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

David (Canada)

David is involved in a wide range of projects ranging from teaching Very Young Leaners to Adults, coordinating Primary summer programmes and more recently, David has joined our Teacher Training team to deliver continuous professional development sessions to local Kindergarten and Primary school teachers.

Prior to joining EfA in 2018, David taught English in a variety of institutions in Korea and Vietnam, including a university, banking academy, as well as middle and elementary schools. During this time, he developed a keen interest in Korean and Vietnamese languages; his understanding of languages extends to French and Spanish and it is this in-depth knowledge of languages that equips him to better understand the needs of English language learners. He is an advocate for role-playing games in the classroom to simulate real-life situations.

David holds an Honours Degree, PGCE and a TESOL Certificate. With a dedication to life-long learning, he is currently studying Law, Politics and Policy-making.

Felisita (Macao)

Felisita is passionate about teaching and enabling students to reach their full potential. Her supportive nature and engaging lessons continue to guide her students on a path to success.

She has extensive teaching experience ranging from secondary learners, university students, teachers, and adults in the corporate sector in Macao. Prior to joining the teaching team at EfA, Felisita taught English at the Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT), Escola São Paulo, Colégio Diocesano de São José and the University of Saint Joseph (USJ).

Felisita is TESOL certified, holds a Bachelor’s in Communications, a Master’s in Education and is currently working towards a PhD in Education. She speaks seven languages, including English, Cantonese, Spanish, Portuguese, Tagalog, Japanese and Russian.

Aside from teaching, Felisita is dedicated to charity work and spending time with family and friends. She enjoys travelling, reading, gardening and meeting new people.

Johanci (South Africa/ UK)

Johanci is the Academic Manager for English for Asia, Macao. She is responsible for the academic development of all projects, including Teacher Training, Corporate, the EfA Learning Centre and School Projects. She has been working as a teacher, teacher trainer and academic coordinator for various courses and projects throughout her teaching career in the UK, South Africa and Hong Kong.

Her most recent projects include leading TESOL Teacher Training Workshops for Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary School Teachers, including the English for Asia Teaching Team. In addition to this, Johanci also designs and teaches tailor-made English for Specific Purposes (ESP) courses in the Integrated Resorts of Macao.

Passionate about learning, continuous professional development and education, Johanci is always seeking to enable others to develop their skills to become active and responsible members of a global society.

She holds a Bachelor Degree, Higher Diploma in Education, British Qualified Teacher Status, Cambridge CELTA and Delta Module 1 and 2. In addition to education, Johanci has a keen interest in property development, interior design and loves going on adventures in the great outdoors.

John (UK)

John has experience in teaching all ages and proficiency levels and specialises in teaching Young Learners. In a teaching career spanning over 18 years, John has mastered the skill of engaging students by tapping into their needs and interests and having real-life conversations to stimulate natural language development. His classes are relaxed and students enjoy and benefit greatly from his lessons.

At EfA, John has been involved in many projects, including the planning and preparation of events, overseeing and coordinating the development of our ENGLISH CLUB syllabus and teaching on many projects, in both our Learning Centre and local schools.

Prior to joining EfA in January 2014, John was teaching English in Taiwan. He holds an Honours Degree in Criminology and a TEFL Qualification.

John is a keen skateboarder and cyclist and regularly cycles in Taipa and Coloane on his days off.

Lucus (USA)

Lucus is a versatile teacher with experience teaching all proficiency levels and age groups. He enjoys supporting students in their development and to gain confidence in the skills they would like to develop. He is an excellent classroom teacher regardless of whether in a one-to-one, corporate, or group setting.

At EfA, Lucus is responsible for developing and teaching our Drama Stars syllabus for Young Learners and has taken a leading role in the planning and preparation of summer events. Prior to joining EfA in March 2019, Lucus was a private tutor helping individuals and small groups of students attain specific language goals.

Lucus holds a Bachelor of Science, TEFL Certificate and is also trained in teaching drama through English. Lucus is an exceedingly dedicated teacher who never stops to carry the interest of his students at heart, such that even during his free time, he enjoys reading and designing lessons around current events and pop culture to engage students.

Martha (South Africa)

Martha is a dedicated Kindergarten teacher who always seeks to find ways to make lessons interesting for her students. She has a wealth of experience teaching students across a broad range of age groups and proficiency levels. In her present role at EfA, Martha teaches classes both at local schools and in our Learning Centre.

Prior to settling in Macao in 2002, Martha worked in Africa, Europe and Asia. She joined EfA in 2016 after many years of tutoring and teaching in Macao.

She holds a Diploma in Primary Education, an Advanced Diploma in Theology and is TEFL certified. In her free time, Martha enjoys listening to music, crocheting and taking walks in nature.

Mitchell (USA)

Mitchell is an experienced teacher with a broad knowledge of curriculums offered worldwide. This enables him to effectively identify the needs of students from a range of backgrounds and adapt course materials to suit their needs. He is a firm believer of phonics as a method to help students master the sounds of English and to become independent readers and writers.

At EfA, Mitchell specialises in teaching Primary students, teenagers and adults. He has worked at numerous schools in Macao, teaching English to both students and staff. In addition, Mitchell teaches a range of courses at our Learning Centre to students with proficiency levels ranging from beginner to advanced.

Prior to joining EfA in 2007, Mitchell taught Social Studies and Science to a range of age groups in the United States. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Urban Geography, a California State Multiple Subject Credential and a Trinity CertTESOL.

Mitchell has a keen interest in politics and current events. He is also an animal lover, enjoys gardening and has a wide collection of model trains.

Nadine (Macao)

Nadine has been teaching English for various English institutions in Macao since 2015. Her experience includes teaching English to Kindergarten and Primary students between the ages of 3-14.

Her responsibilities have included lesson planning, materials creation, administrative tasks and communication with parents.

Nadine is passionate about child development and language acquisition in a natural and fun environment, where young learners’ needs are met.

Rolan (Australia)

Rolan joined EfA in 2016 and has taught all levels from Kindergarten to adults, including teaching at a wide range of local schools in Macao. He is most passionate about teaching students at Primary level and has an authentic style, using realia and drawings to inspire students.

Rolan holds a Bachelor of Architecture, Post Graduate Diploma of Education (Primary) and a TESOL Certificate.

He has a wide range of interests outside of work, including chess, robots and technology. He also enjoys spending time in nature.

Ron (South Africa)

Ron has an organic style of teaching by which students drive lessons according to their needs and interests. He is passionate about one-to-one teaching, the use of technology and the future of online education.

At EfA, Ron teaches a variety of programmes, specifically corporate projects. Prior to joining us in 2016, he taught English in mainland China. His experience ranges from teaching multi-lingual classes, Business English, IELTS, English Online, General English and Conversational English to a range of age groups and proficiency levels.

Ron holds a Bachelor Degree in Principles and Methods of Language Education, as well as a range of TESOL qualifications. He speaks English, Mandarin and Afrikaans. He is continuously seeking opportunities to learn new things and is currently mastering Sign Language.
